I'm sooooo old

I was reading on wired.com's gaming blog that the Super Mario Bros. games is 25 years old. Huh? How did that happen?

That's a whole generation of college graduates that have never lived in a world without Mario, Bowser or Princess Peach. I remember playing that game when it came out. I loved that game. That game, plus Tetris on the Nintendo Entertainment system that my brother-in-law had, was my first real induction into at home gaming. My world has never been the same since.

I asked for a NES for Christmas one year and I had to say I cried when I opened my present. I didn't get it and what I got wasn't what I wanted. Instead I got a Super Nintendo System. I was upset. I thought I would never get to play Super Mario Bros., or Tetris again. I guess I was wrong.

As much fun as it was to think back to my memories of playing that game when it came out it sure did make me feel old. I feel like I should be shaking my cane at some young hooligans. Or maybe I should just yell at them. How old were you when Super Mario Bros. came out? Or what is your first gaming memory? And if you can't remember anything prior to the PS2 or GameCube than "GET OFF MY LAWN YOU YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPERS."

I can't remember that many games i had for the NES,i do know i had the Dizzy games(Dizzy,Treasure Island Dizzy,Fantasy World Dizzy)...that were made by Codemasters when they were still known as a British Company and not the worldwide company they are now..i loved those games

i also had of course Super Mario Bros and SMB3(never had 2 until Wii VC)

as For the SNES i had a game called Mystic Quest Legend, which i really loved....about a year ago i learned that Mystic Quest Legend was called Final Fantasy:Mystic Quest in the US...so when i thought FF7 was my first FF game on the playstation,i was wrong

Believe it or not, my mother bought our first NES and she bought it for herself. He had to fight her to play. I'll post a pic of her playing back in the day on my facebook. I just need to find the pic. Back when I was 100 lbs lighter and used to wear some big ass glasses. ha ha ha

I still have my original Atari 2600. It was still working, the last time I checked. And I used to own those little arcade replicas of Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Galaxian.

My friends had Intellivision and Colecovision. My cousin had a Coleco ADAM computer. What a failure that turned out to be. I had a friend with a NES. He got 8 out of 10 on Duck Hunt bouncing the light gun off of a mirror. If I didn't see it myself, I wouldn't have believed it.

I never had a NES. I kinda skipped a couple of gaming generations. After the Atari my next console was my original Xbox.

Weasell you really did skip a couple of generations.

However, I used to be a PC gamer in that time. Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight was a fantastic gaming experience. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy followed. I actually bought my Xbox in December of 2003 and I ended up exchanging KOTOR for the PC (an Xmas gift that would have pushed my system to the limit) for KOTOR on the Xbox.

Oh, did you have X-wing and TIE Fighter games too? I still have those for my PC. I love those games.

I had the Lucasarts Archives vol. II: Tie Fighter, Rebel Assault, Rebel Assault II, Dark Forces demo disc and Making Magic - a behind the scenes of Star Wars documentary.

Oh, and I had the Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith companion mission pack for Dark Forces II as well.
